Summer School: 2014 Age: 11-17 Years

Chalfont College Summer School is run by Alexanders College, with all of the same PLUS options available except Golf. The school is situated on a University-style campus in lovely woodland in the Chiltern Hills on the Newland Park Estate, only 30 minutes from Heathrow and 45 minutes from London.

Additional Information

The maximum class size is 15 students. The school provides full board residential accommodation in university style houses. Each house has a Head of House providing 24 hour supervision and there is a weekly laundry service. There is a Friday London study trip and also a Sunday London tourist trip and shopping. Facilities include tennis courts, basketball court, sports hall, art centre, computer room, sports fields and a 200 seater theatre.

Airport transfers are available. For reduced rate airport transfers it may be necessary for students to wait under supervision at the airport. Students are expected to arrive on Mondays and depart on Sundays for a stay of minimum 2 weeks, maximum 10.

The courses include 15 hours of English tuition as well as 6-9 hours of the chosen option:

English Plus Horseriding

Students learn the basics of horseriding before learning how to jump and ride out.

English Plus Football

Qualified coaches teach individual skills and team tactics in conditioned games.

English Plus Tennis

Qualified professionals teach through practice drills and conditioned games with weekly tournaments.

English Plus Art

Instruction is provided in drawing and painting, collage and 3-D work. English Plus Music: Students use their talents in music to prepare a performance to the school.

English Plus Dance

Choreographed dance sessions, from street to salsa.

English Plus Drama

Students use their dramatic talents to prepare a performance to the school.

English Plus Kayaking

Qualified instructors from the local Sailing Club teach the basic skills of kayaking on the Grand Union Canal. Advanced kayakers can go to the white water area.

English Plus Multi-Activities

Students can participate in a selection of arts options and sports including basketball, orienteering, volleyball and badminton.

Intensive English

Extra English classes in small groups with students focusing on grammar, use of English, vocabulary, speaking and error correction. Please note: English Plus options must be confirmed at the time of enrolment.
